Cyber Artists Studios

Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
of Our Customers and Friends

Technical support is available by e-mail to registered users for all of our programs. We reserve the right to terminate support to any user who is, in our judgement, abusive or unreasonable, or who has issues or problems which goes beyond the scope or use of our software. We do not provide instruction or support of any kind on the use of Windows, WinZip or any other programs not distributed or produced by Cyber Artists Studios. Questions relating to the use of those programs should be emailed to the distributors and/or producers of those programs. Nor do we provide instruction or support of any kind on the use of your computer. It is assumed, by purchasing one of our programs or by installing one of our programs, that you have a basic knowledge and understanding on the use of a computer.
I have my registration codes. How do I enter them in my program?
You should follow the instructions provided in the documentation file (A *.doc, *.txt or *.wri file.) that came within the archive of each program. However, for most of our programs, please follow these steps to enter your registration codes. After you have installed the screensavers on your computer, click on My Computer. Click on Control Panel. Click on Display. Click on the tab labeled Screen Saver. Make sure that the proper screensaver is highlighted from the list of screensavers available on your system. Click on the Settings button. The top tab that will appear is the Trial tab. The place to enter your registration codes will be obvious to you. Remember, you must enter both, Registration Name and Registration Key, EXACTLY as they appear in your registration notice. Case is VERY important. Do not confuse the letter O with the number 0.

I entered my registration codes, but I still get the expiration notice. It did not unlock the screensaver! Why not?
You did not enter the codes properly. Please reread the previous question regarding how to enter your codes. Keep those points in mind and reenter your codes.

I have forgotten, lost or misplaced my registration codes. Can I get replacements? What should I do?
Cyber Artists Studios can regenerate and reissue Registration Codes for you. These will be emailed to you. There is a $4.95 service fee. Please go here by clicking on the link - Registration Replacement - for more information and to request replacement.

I downloaded one of your programs, tried it for the evaluation period but do not wish to purchase at this time. How do I remove the program from my computer?
If, for any reason, you decide to remove one of our programs from your system you may easily do so by going to your Windows Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs. Highlight the name of the program. Click on the Add/Remove button. It will automatically and easily be removed from your system. A few of our programs, such as "Old Glory,"* also have their own uninstall program. You may use either method to remove the program in these cases. Also, for some reason, some builds of Windows may keep data in cache memory. This is a bug with Windows memory management. After deletion, it is advisable to reboot the computer.

I downloaded one of your programs and now I have your "ad" on my desktop. How do I get rid of it?
The notice you see on your desktop is not an "ad." Nor is it the result of us sneaking into your computer in the dead of night. There is no direct, live computer connection between your computer and Cyber Artists Studios. What you see is simply a static expiration notice. The evaluation period for the program you installed has expired. The notice is there to inform you of this. To "get rid of it," simply follow the instructions given in the answer to the previous question for removal of the program. You may also "get rid of it" by selecting a different default screensaver.

I do not wish to order by credit card. Can I order by check or by mail?
Yes. Go to our website. Go to the page of the program you wish to register. Click on the Share-It! button for registration. You will be asked by what method you wish to pay for your registration -- credit card, check, cash or bank/wire transfer. Follow the onscreen instructions. Please remember that registration codes can only be emailed after Share-It! has confirmed checks have cleared the bank.

After I register, do I have to download the program again?
No. Unlike some of our competitors, our complete program is available for your testing and viewing in our evaluation versions.** Afterall, the principle behind shareware, trialware and/or an evaluation version is to be able to see and test what you are asked to pay for before you buy. Once you receive your registration codes, you simply enter the codes into your program and you are done. No time wasted downloading a second time.

I upgraded my system to Windows XP and now the screensavers don't work. What do I do?
Our screensavers are compatible with Windows XP. However, for some reason known only to Microsoft, some screensavers (And other programs) may not survive the upgrade to XP. All you need to do is reinstall the screensavers and then reenter your personal registration keys.

Who is this Share-It!?
Share-It! is our sales agent. They are the professionals that handle all the details of insuring that your online transaction is totally safe and totally secure.

Who or what is PayPal?
PayPal is a secure method by which you can pay for your registration either by credit card or, for those without credit cards or who do not wish to use them, by direct electronic transfer of funds from your bank account.

Do you offer your screensavers on CD?
Because of increasing distribution agreements, you may purchase CD versions of our programs at various retail outlets around the world. However, we do not ship CD versions of our programs at this time. The advantage of offering our software via ESD (Electronic Software Delivery) is that, unlike some of our competitors, we use that advantage to keep our prices as affordable as possible. Why pay $24.95 for a program when you can save nearly 50% by simply downloading it? With just a 28.8 modem, most of our programs will download in less than 30 minutes. The program you download is exactly the same as the one that would appear on a CD. We are investigating the possibility of offering a CD delivery option. However, we will not do so unless it can be done in a manner that does not take advantage of our customers and friends. And $24.95 for CD delivery of a single title is, in our opinion, outrageous. An additional advantage of ESD is that it allows you to download the latest versions of the programs you have registered at no extra charge.

I downloaded one of your programs and it is in ZIP format. What the heck is a ZIP file and how do I use it?
The most common form of distributing files over the Internet and via online services such as AOL, CompuServe and MSN is the ZIP file. It is an archive format that compresses a number of files into one compact file for easier distribution and easier downloading. To unZIP these files you will need a utility program such as WinZip. Install WinZip on your system and simply follow the instructions contained within its Help file. It is quick and easy to use. Once the ZIP file has been unZIPPED, simply run the setup.exe file within.

I received an email from you. How often do you send these and can I be taken off your mailing list?
Occasionally, and never more than once a calendar month, we send out an email letting people know of important news, special promotions or sales and anything else we feel they may find helpful or interesting. The only people who receive these mailings are those who have previously purchased from or registered with us, specifically asked to be notified of any announcements, are affiliate members or belong to an opt-in list of an affiliate. You can, of course, always be removed from this list by simply replying to the most recent mailing with unsubscribe as the Subject Header. You must reply from the address the last mailing was sent to. Please allow approximately 5 days for your request to be completed.

Can you make me a custom screensaver?
Yes, we can and we do. Go here -> Custom Work <- for further details.

I received an email stating that you cannot fill my registration order because my "… name, postal address, email address, country of residence or Internet domain is currently on our Prohibited List which prevents us from fulfilling the order." What's with this?
Cyber Artists Studios does not fulfill registration orders from individuals who have, in the past, taken "liberties" with our policies, products or services. This is part of our anti-fraud, anti-piracy and anti-theft policy. Also, Cyber Artists Studios does not fulfill registration orders from individuals or companies who have, in our opinion, been abusive, insulting or threatening to any member of our staff. Finally, Cyber Artists Studios also does not fulfill orders originating from certain nations.***

* Cyber Artists Studios no longer distributes the shareware "Old Glory" or the free "You Are Not Forgotten" screensavers. However, the removal instructions are still valid.

** The exception being those evaluation versions posted on AOL that would normally contain nudity, such as our Renoir's Nudes Screensaver and The World of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec Screensaver. Out of respect for AOL's policy, we lockout those images that contain nudity. They are unlocked upon registration.

*** Brazil, Cuba, France, Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, Myanmar, North Korea, The People's Republic of China, Russia, Sudan and Syria. Registration requests from these locations will NOT be fulfilled.
